Overview
Use this steel C channel sizes calculator to quickly look up section properties for
American standard C shapes. The tool returns geometric properties such as area, moments of inertia,
section modulus and radius of gyration, based on standard data.
The designation of a steel channel indicates its nominal depth and weight per unit length. For example,
C10 × 30 represents a channel with approximately 10 in depth and
30 lb/ft weight.
Dimensions and section properties of American standard steel channels are defined in
ASTM A6/A6M.
How to use: select the channel depth in the left list, then choose the desired weight per
unit length. Click Calculate to display the corresponding section properties.
Output Parameters
American standard steel C channel – depth, flange width and thickness, and reference axes.
Note: Use dot “.” as decimal separator.
