Round Steel Tubing Sizes and Section Properties (Round HSS)

Round steel tubing (round HSS) sizes, dimensions and section properties chart, including second moment of area, elastic and plastic section moduli, radius of gyration, torsional constants and more.

Round steel tubes are usually manufactured to meet ASTM A500 Grade B (Fy = 42 ksi) or Grade C (Fy = 46 ksi). Round HSS sections have a circular hollow cross-section with uniform wall thickness (except at the weld seam).

Round steel tubes are designated by HSS, nominal outside diameter (inches), and wall thickness. For example, HSS 6.000 × 0.500 is nominally 6 in. in diameter with a 1/2 in. nominal wall thickness.
