MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF ALUMINUM 7075 BAR, ROD AND SHAPES

Aluminum 7075 alloy room-temperature material properties of rolled, drawn, or cold-finished rod, bar and shapes are given for T6, T651, T73 and T7351 tempers.

INPUT PARAMETERS
Temper
Thickness* inch

Notes*:

  • Rolled/drawn/cold-finished 7075: round rod max Ø 4 in; square bar max 3½ in; rectangular bar max t = 3 in (w ≤ 6 in). If t < 3 in, max w = 10 in.
  • Extrusions: properties are based on thickness at quench.

Notes:

  • e — edge distance (loading direction), D — hole diameter.
  • If grain direction is unknown, use the lesser of the L or transverse properties.
  • Caution — 7075-T6/T651 bars have poor SCC in LT direction.
  • Caution — 7075-T6/T6510/T6511 extrusions have poor SCC in ST direction.

Definitions:

A Basis: Lower of T99 or specification minimum (S-basis).

S Basis: Minimum values per specification.

Longitudinal: Parallel to material flow.

Long Transverse: Transverse with largest dimension.
