ISO Preferred Fits Calculator (ISO 286)

This online ISO preferred fits calculator helps you calculate size limits, deviations and fit type (clearance, transition or interference) for metric shafts and holes. Calculations are based on ISO 286-1:2010, ISO 286-2:2010 and ANSI/ASME B4.2:1978 preferred metric limits and fits.

Enter the nominal size and select the hole tolerance and shaft tolerance. The calculator returns:

  • Upper and lower deviations for hole and shaft
  • Maximum and minimum hole and shaft sizes
  • Resulting fit designation (for example H7/g6)
  • Fit type: clearance fit, transition fit or interference fit
  • Maximum and minimum clearance or interference
